about the creator

Heather is a former professional athlete and proven winner, who thundered down the field with the US Women’s National team from 2002-2016. As a teenager, Heather helped the USWNT to a gold medal in the 2004 Olympic Games, and followed it up with gold in the 2008 and 2012 Games. Heather also competed in 3 world cups, winning in 2015 as she and her teammates captured the hearts of the nation along the way. Heather graduated from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill with a degree in education and two National Championships with the Heels. Since retiring from professional play, Heather has combined her passions for soccer, mentoring, and being in front of the camera. She has been involved with soccer coaching (youth and college) and various media work. Heather currently hosts a weekly radio show with Sirius XM called Played In, and was a studio analyst with Fox Sports for both 2019 (Emmy nominated) and 2023 productions of the Women’s World Cup. She resides in Chapel Hill, NC with her husband and two sons, William and Jack, and hobbies include running, supporting the Tar Heels, and following Arsenal Football Club, her former side from her playing days.
